DUI arrest of pop singer Justin Bieber, NBC 6 News recently turned to Miami
DUI Attorney Helmuth Solis for some legal insight into how the DUI court
process works. In the
NBC 6 News interview, Attorney Solis explained the various steps that usually follow a DUI arrest.
In laying out the various steps, Attorney Solis noted that it begins with
the driver being taken to jail and booked. If the person is able to secure
bond, then he or she can be released from jail. The next thing that the
defendant will have to do is show up for the arraignment, which is the
first court hearing. This hearing, usually held about 21 days following
the DUI arrest, is where the defendant would be able to officially contest
the DUI charges filed against him or her, the lawyer said. As for Bieber's
case, he is expected to be in court next month. According to NBC 6 News,
it does not appear that the DUI charges will damage the immigration status
of the singer, who is from Canada.
As we already reported on our blog, Justin Bieber was arrested on Jan.
23, 2014 after being stopped by law enforcement for an alleged drag racing
incident. He ended up being arrested and charged with DUI, driving with
an expired license and resisting arrest. It is alleged that he made statements
indicating that he drank alcohol, took prescription drugs and smoked marijuana
prior to his arrest.
This is not the only media interview our attorneys at Beckham Solis, Attorneys
at Law have participated in lately. On January 11 between 10 a.m. and
